Normandy: Pretty Damned Impressive

Visited the beaches of Normandy today, and I have to say that it was pretty darn impressive. I was especially awed by the prefabricated harbor we saw. They built cement seawalls six stories high and enormous docks and floating roads, tugged them all the way across the English Channel, deployed the harbor while the front line was only a few kilometers away, and it withstood rough waves, very high and low tides, and a nasty summer storm, and still functioned longer than it was built to. Wow.
Oh, and by the way, I really miss having a proper shower. The European community still hasn't figured out how to do those right.
